HAMBURGER WRITING WORKSHOP

10AM-NOON

Lunch will be served- (hamburgers, of course!)

-This workshop will be held at the Pittsburg Public Library.

All students entering 3^rd, 4^th or 5^th grade are welcome to attend. $25 fee due upon arrival.

This hands on writing technique teaches students how to organize their ideas and put them on paper in a way that makes sense and is very vivid!

The instructor for this workshop will be Angela Lewis.  She has taught language arts for seventeen years and has a master’s degree from PSU!

The extra credit 'memory boxes' for The Giver are due tomorrow.

Food

Our traditional 8th grade cook out will be May 20 at Lincoln Park during the school day.  Hot dogs, chips, and a drink will be supplied.  I am looking for parents that would help supply desserts of some sort (cookies or something easy for kids to pick up in a line of 220 kids!). You certainly don't have to make or buy dessert for 220 kids.  If you would be willing to contribute, please let me know.  Thanks for all you do!

End -of-Year

-Packets over The Giver are due May 14. 

-Students will take an AR test over The Giver on May 14.

-Students will take a paper test over The Giver on May 12.

-The Buckets n Boards show is today at 2:00!  Students had to read 500,000 words in order to attend. 

-The talent show is May 16 in the gym.

April 30- Spring Clean Up Day and Firefighters’ Demonstration

May 2- Last day to check out an AR book, $38 for Silver Dollar City due for those who qualify

May 5- Eight hours of community service hours must be complete in order to be eligible for Silver Dollar City

May 7, 8- Math Testing

May 9- Buckets ‘N’ Boards    

May 14- AR Due

May 16- AR Party and Talent Show

May 20- 8^th Grade Cook Out, 8^th Grade Recognition Practice                                      and 8^th Grade Recognition/Dance

May 21- Silver Dollar City (for those who qualify)                                                                                                    

Reading State Assessments

If all goes well, we will be taking the state reading assessment on Monday/Tuesday and Wednesday/Thursday.  Your child will be taking the test for two consecutive days (either Mon/Tue or Wed/Thur).
