Buckets N Boards

Buckets N Boards

Please help us bring Buckets N Boards to PCMS!

Buckets N Boards, a percussion and comedy duo from Branson, has agreed to create and perform a show for our students in May.  In order for to attend the show, students must read 500,000 words by the end of the school year.  Our Accelerated Reading program will track students’ words as they read and test throughout the year.  Reading teachers will have weekly A.R. conferencing with students to keep them motivated and on track.

A reading initiative involving a Branson show, however, does come at a hefty price. The fee for Buckets N Boards is $2,000.  We greatly appreciate any and all help you are able to give.  If you are willing to donate, please send all donations to the PCMS Library or your reading teacher.  THANK YOU!!!

FAME

We will begin the Holocaust novel unit on Tuesday, January 28.  Your child was given the title of the novel he/she will read.  I am going to try and give a copy of The Diary of a Young Girl to each student assigned to that particular book.  They will be able to borrow this book for the entire novel unit.  However, I am not able to do that with the other three titles.  If your child is behind in reading because of being absent or just happens to get behind during class, he/she will not be allowed to take one of my novels home.  I would suggest seeing if the Pittsburg Public Library has a copy.  In addition, your child can go to Mrs. Katsbulas' room at 6:50 AM every morning to catch up on reading.  This is our morning FAME program.  If your child chooses to do this, I will need to know that day before so I can have a copy of the book in her room.  Even if your child needs to make-up work, he can attend this program.  He is allowed to eat a school breakfast upon arrival.

SAFE

PARENTS:
CD book reports were due yesterday.  The students checked out a book from our library on Oct. 28.  They had five class days to work on the project and even had winter break to do so as well.  If it was printed in color, they will receive ten extra credit points.  However, if your child does not turn in the CD book report by Thursday, he/she will be assigned to SAFE next Tuesday and Thursday to make up the work. This is not a form of punishment but a chance for them to complete work.  SAFE is over at 5 PM.  I will be notifying you if your child needs to attend SAFE.
