Character Pumpkin Contest

Are you ready for some fun? Here is a chance to get some extra credit and have fun, too!

You will first need to pick one of your favorite book characters from a book you have read during middle school. You will then make a character pumpkin using paint, glue, markers, glitter, yarn, fabric, or whatever you can think of to make your pumpkin unique.

You must write a paragraph telling about your character. Tell the book he/she was in or if this book ever made it to the big screen. You will need to have the title of the book at the top of the paper.

Grading Criteria

5 PTS         ORIGINALITY

5 PTS         CREATIVITY

5 PTS         RESEMBLANCE

5 PTS         PARAGRAPH

You will be graded on the above criteria, which gives you an option for 20 extra credit points.

All pumpkins will be displayed in the library with your typed paragraph next to it. If possible, we will also display the book next to your pumpkin.

There will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize!!!! Good luck!!!!!

This project is due on October 19^th so that I have time to grade them and then put them on display in the library.

AR DUE

Please remember AR is due October 16 and you MUST have 2 nonfiction, 2 vocabulary, and 1 literacy skills in order to go to the party!!!

Book Report

Your 9 weeks' book report is due October 12.  Make sure to pick up a piece of poster board in my classroom.  Yes, it must be typed.  Maybe you could use homeroom time to work on it!

Extra Credit

Awesome job to the students who attended the Banned Books Bingo at Pittsburg Public Library.  Read page 6 of today's Morning Sun and you will read a quote from one of our very own 8th grade students.  Good job!

Oct. 3 Updates

Wear camo on Oct 4 to support anti-bullying week. Bullies can't hide from us.

-AR is due Oct. 16.
